Project SWinG: new generation of female sport leaders is coming!

Co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, SWinG is an ambitious project with an aim to identify and support emerging female leaders, and empower them to become decision-makers in national and international sports organisations.

The final outcomes of the project will be the nine intellectual products, a mentoring scheme and a network of empowered sportswomen who will face the challenge of gender gap and the lack of female representation in sports federations.

The SWinG mentoring scheme includes 18 aspiring sports leaders who have a vision to take one of the leading seats in the organisations’ executive and managing committees. In 2020, the mentees enrolled in a mentoring programme with the support of renowned female leaders from various fields of sport.

ENGSO Youth supported them with a communication campaign in which each mentee received an opportunity to present themselves.

This year, the SWinG team also offered an educational programme – the webinar series. All 6 episodes can be found on gamechangeher.org/webinars.

Marijke Fleuren, President of the European Hockey Federation and IOC member, was one of the guests.

Quick update on the project’s development

The first five reports and toolkits are finalised. With a decade of experience, ENGSO Youth is responsible for the creation of the Election Communication Kit which is currently in its final phase of development. Handbooks 6, 8 and 9 will be finished in 2021.

Due to the pandemic, most of the partner meetings took place online. The multiplier events will be organised in 2021.

SWinG project team consists of French Federation for Company Sport, ENGSO Youth, Athletes for Hope, the European Federation for Company Sport (EFCS), the European Hockey Federation (EHF), the network of Les Femmes Chefs d’Entreprises Mondiales (FCEM), the Professional Women’s Network (PWN), the Società Sportiva Lazio, the Sport Club Partizan Skofja Loka and the University of Copenhagen.
